If you have never had oral surgery or periodontal care, it is natural that you might have some questions. Our doctors at Southwest Oral Surgical Arts (SWOSA) are always happy to answer questions in advance, and we have rounded up a few of our most common inquiries. If you have any additional questions, please do not hesitate to contact SWOSA.

Your comfort is one of our foremost priorities. To ensure the best possible experience, we provide a full range of anesthesia and sedation options. You will not be fully aware during your wisdom teeth removal and should not experience pain during the procedure itself. While some soreness can be expected for the first two or three days of your recovery, this discomfort is easy to manage with over-the-counter medications.

Our practice has both Board Certified periodontists and Board Certified oral and maxillofacial surgeons, all of whom have achieved the highest clinical training standards. As such, our providers are well-equipped to promote your health and well-being through safe and successful dental implant placement. Additionally, our surgeons all have advanced training in sedation and deep anesthesia, another way in which we promote patient safety and well-being.

In some cases, orthodontics alone are insufficient to move the teeth into proper alignment. To provide a full continuum of care, we are happy to partner with local orthodontists to offer treatments such as Temporary Anchorage Devices (TADS), which work in conjunction with traditional braces to promote the best oral health solutions. Our knowledge of oral surgical procedures, combined with our portfolio of best-in-class technologies, enables us to provide these treatments while optimizing the patient’s experience.

While there is no cure for gum disease, a wide range of surgical and non-surgical interventions can control its spread and mitigate its symptoms. We can restore you to robust oral health through proper treatment, protect your teeth from deterioration, or prepare you for successful dental implant placement.

All patients have different needs, but in many cases, it is possible to have an extraction and an implant placement during the same appointment. In other scenarios, your doctor may advise that you allow some time for periodontal treatment or a bone graft. Even if you need to wait before implant placement, temporary prostheses may be an option, allowing you to maintain a seamless smile.
